Companies Partner to Drive Data and Insights on the ‘Extended Workforce’

Plano-based Sapience Analytics is partnering with Washington, D.C.-based consultancy firm Brightfield Partners, which focuses on those helping businesses with workers who aren’t full-time employees. The goal: helping enterprises maintain visibility on their contingent workers.

According to Sapience, work is “experiencing the largest transformations since the Industrial Revolution." CEO Bradley Killinger believes "complete transparency" through advanced data and insights is essential.

As remote work becomes an entrenched fact of life in the American workplace, a Plano company is helping employers keep tabs on their “extended workforce.”

Sapience Analytics, a workforce insights company, announced a new partnership with Washington, D.C.-based consultancy firm Brightfield Partners, which focuses on those helping businesses with workers who aren’t full-time employees. The partnership’s goal: helping enterprises maintain visibility on their contingent workers.

“Gaining complete transparency through the use of advanced data and insights is a key element to executing a successful next-generation sourcing strategy,” said Bradley Killinger, CEO of Sapience Analytics (above), in a statement. “We’re excited to bridge a gap between companies and their supplier communities with deeper analytics, insights, and decision support to strengthen relations and business outcomes for our customers.”

‘The largest transformations since the Industrial Revolution’

According to Sapience, work is “experiencing the largest transformations since the Industrial Revolution.” Founded in 2009—long before the pandemic brought remote work into the nation’s lexicon—the company provides a decision-making platform that helps companies track data on workplace productivity across their workforce.

Through the partnership, Sapience will provide data it has gained through its platform, along with Brightfield’s workforce pricing information, to help customers find accurate pricing for extended workers and streamline their efficiency with non-full-time workers.

Growing the extended workforce

The move builds on Sapience’ recent partnership with Indian IT firm HCL Technologies, which has offices in Arlington.

Brightfield, founded in 2006, provides an AI workforce analytics platform on the productivity of a company’s employee and non-employee workforce.

According to a FlexJobs report, Texas ranked No. 2 in the U.S. for volume of remote workers. And according to a report by career platform The Ladders, about 25% of all professional jobs in North America be remote by the end of the year, with data projections showing that remote work opportunities will continue to increase through 2023.

“While the extended workforce now represents almost 50% of the total workforce, most enterprises still lack the visibility to manage the costs and productivity of this vital human asset,” said Jesse Levin, CEO of Brightfield, in a statement. “Through Brightfield’s partnership with Sapience, customers gain the unique ability to combine real-time labor cost intelligence with analytics on workforce productivity. The combination creates a new-to-world opportunity for enterprise executives to measure and manage the productivity of their total workforce, across employee, contingent, and managed services teams.”

Issues with the ‘black box’ of traditional outsourcing

In a recent Pulse Magazine interview, Sapience’ Killinger addressed what he sees as the multiple issues with the traditional “black box” of outsourcing.

“I’ve seen it hundreds of times where customers send thousands of jobs offshore and within six months were almost distrustful about the work being done,” Killinger told Pulse. “We can fill that gap and make outsourcing relationships much more transparent with fairer economics and lift the trust that had eroded.”
