Slutty Vegan Is Slipping Into Dallas’ Deep Ellum This Month

Slutty Vegan got its start in Atlanta in 2018 when founder and CEO Pinky Cole began selling her signature plant-based burgers over Instagram. Now, after raising a $25 million Series A and opening 10 restaurants in Georgia, New York, and Alabama, she's opening her first Lone Star location right here in North Texas—and aiming to build "a billion-dollar brand."

Slutty Vegan got famous on Instagram—but first it actually launched on it in 2018, when founder and CEO Pinky Cole began selling her signature vegan burgers fresh to order via the app in Atlanta. Within weeks, she was meeting demand from a food truck, building toward her her first restaurant grand opening in the city in early 2019.

Flash forward to today, and Cole’s saucy branding and tempting burgers (like the One Night Stand seen above) have snagged Slutty Vegan media attention on everything from TMZ to CNN to the New York Times, Fast Company, and Forbes.

Now—with seven locations in Georgia, two in New York and one in Alabama—Slutty Virgin is expanding into Texas with a new location in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood at 2707 Main Street—right across the street from the meat-worshipping BBQ attraction Pecan Lodge.

“Dallas has been asking, and we’re so excited to deliver,” Cole said in a statement.

Cole added that she chose Deep Ellum for her first Texas address because of its”strong cultural roots as one of the first commercial districts in the city for African-Americans, bringing to life Slutty Vegan’s philosophy of supporting historically Black neighborhoods.”

Raised $25M Series A in May 2022

Almost exactly one year ago, Cole announced she had raised $25 million in a Series A fundraising round led by Richelieu Dennis’ New Voices Fund and restaurateur Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments.

I had never seen vegan food presented in such a fun way,” Meyer told Forbes at the time.

Fun is right. Other menu options include the Menage a Trois, a plant-based patty loaded with vegan bacon, vegan shrimp, and vegan cheese; the Fussy Hussy, which comes with Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun; the Hollywood Hooker, a vegan chopped Philly steak with jalapeños and caramelized onions on a hoagie roll; and the Super Slut, a vegan burger piled high with guacamole, jalapeños, vegan cheese, and more.

Cole told Forbes her goal is “to build a billion-dollar brand.” She planned to used her Series A funding to fuel her brand’s growth, aiming to open 10 locations by the end of 2022 and a further 10 in 2023.

Slutty Vegan’s Deep Ellum location will be one of those 2023 openings—and its doors are slated to open later this month.
