American Airlines Plans 3 Passenger Upgrades at DFW

The Fort Worth-based carrier’s latest investments include a private check-in experience in Terminal D, its largest-ever Admirals Club lounge in Terminal C and a grab-and-go lounge concept in the future Terminal F.

Fort Worth-based American Airlines is expanding its premium customer experience at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The investment includes a dedicated Flagship check-in area and two new lounge concepts at the airline’s largest and busiest hub.

The announcement adds to a fast-moving list of upgrades American has rolled out at DFW this year, including electronic boarding gates and a newly opened Terminal C “pier” expansion, part of the airline’s broader multibillion-dollar modernization of its hometown hub.

A dedicated arrival experience

Located in Terminal D near the D30 security checkpoint, American’s new Flagship check-in experience is set to open later this year. The space will offer eligible customers a private check-in environment, individual assistance from American team members and streamlined access to security screening.

“We’re investing in every stage of the premium travel journey at DFW, beginning the moment customers arrive at the airport,” Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said in a statement. The Flagship check-in concept builds on similar offerings American already operates at select hubs around the world, the company said.

Network’s largest Admirals Club lounge

American also plans to open a new Admirals Club lounge in the redesigned Terminal C, near the Skylink station. At 37,000 square feet, it will be the largest Admirals Club lounge in American’s network, offering chef-inspired menus, an expanded all-day food selection and a premium beverage program featuring specialty cocktails and wines.

The lounge is the latest piece of the Terminal C rebuild, where American recently opened a nine-gate pier expansion featuring new electronic boarding gates, part of a $3 billion reconstruction of the airline’s busiest DFW terminal.

Grab-and-go space planned for Terminal F

American will also bring a Provisions by Admirals Club lounge to DFW’s future Terminal F. This lounge will offer a fast, curated selection of food, beverages and travel essentials. It will be the first premium offering to open in Terminal F, the airline’s sixth terminal at DFW and its first new full terminal build in two decades.

Terminal F is being built using large-scale modular construction techniques, with prefabricated structures assembled offsite and moved into place to speed construction and limit disruption to airport operations. The project, backed by a $4 billion investment from American, is expected to open its first phase with 15 gates in 2027. Ultimately, it will expand to 31 gates total, exclusively for American’s operations.

Investing in American’s largest hub

DFW handles more of American’s daily departures, connecting customers and connecting checked bags than any other airport in the airline’s system. It has more than 930 peak daily departures, and more than 30% of the airline’s daily connecting traffic passes through the hub.

“We’re making significant investments in the future of our largest hub at DFW, with our customers at the heart of every decision,” said Senior Vice President of DFW Operations Jim Moses. “From major expansions to transformative enhancements, we’re making travel through DFW even more seamless, comfortable and convenient.”
