IBM spinoff Kyndryl, a provider of enterprise-level IT infrastructure services, opened an AI innovation lab in Frisco Oct. 1. It is the company’s first AI lab in the U.S.
The lab, at 5844 John Hickman Parkway, could create up to 300 jobs in AI, tech consulting and design engineering over the next four years, Kyndryl said. The Frisco facility joins New York City-based Kyndryl’s global network of AI labs, including locations in the United Kingdom and Luxembourg.
Kyndryl occupies nearly 5,800 square feet in Offices 3 at Frisco Station, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration. The renovation cost an estimated $500,000. A Kyndryl spokesperson confirmed the project’s details.
The company said it is investing in the Dallas-Fort Worth market “to advance AI innovation, workforce development and customer collaboration, reinforcing its long-term commitment to America’s digital future.”
The Frisco lab will enable Kyndryl customers to explore AI use cases, develop working prototypes and create organizational AI roadmaps, Kyndryl said.
Strengthening the innovation ecosystem
Jamie Rutledge, president of Kyndryl U.S., said in a statement that the lab “brings customers together with Kyndryl experts to unlock the full value of AI while strengthening America’s innovation ecosystem.”
“Powered by the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework and our deep consulting, engineering and infrastructure expertise, the lab gives customers a hands-on environment to experiment, innovate and turn ideas into outcomes with greater speed and confidence,” Rutledge said.
Kyndryl launched the agentic AI initiative in fiscal year 2026, which ended March 31. The framework is designed to help customers adopt and scale agentic AI across on-site, cloud and hybrid environments, the company said.
‘Pioneering company’
The new lab will lean on a combination of the company’s AI framework, transformation practice, consulting and AI services, and infrastructure and engineering know-how, Kyndryl said.
In Frisco, customers will work with Kyndryl experts in workshops, prototyping sessions and engineering exercises “to solve business challenges where AI can deliver measurable impact,” the company said.
“Kyndryl is a pioneering company that could have chosen any market in the United States, and its decision to establish a major innovation hub in Frisco underscores the strength of our community and the reputation we’ve earned as one of the best places in the country for growth, innovation and exceptional talent,” Frisco Mayor Mark Hill said in a statement.
Frisco lab partners and specialties
The company said the lab is partnering with NPower, Dallas AI, Tech Titans and other local organizations to cultivate AI and tech skills in the DFW workforce. Kyndryl said it’s an inaugural supporter of NPower’s AI training program.
The lab will also be home to a team dedicated to developing technology for motor vehicle agencies across the U.S. In addition, the lab will showcase Kyndryl’s cybersecurity capabilities.
“By combining AI-enabled insights, automation and Kyndryl’s deep cybersecurity and network expertise, the integrated operating model helps customers accelerate incident response, strengthen resilience and improve overall IT performance,” the company said.
