North Texas Giving Day, Dallas-based Communities Foundation of Texas’ biggest fundraiser of the year, set a record for giving. By the event’s official close at midnight Sept. 17, 94,700 donors had given more than $76 million, compared with $74.2 million at midnight in 2025.

Donors gave to some 3,300 local nonprofits in 25 cause areas, including education, health, social services, arts, the environment and animal welfare. Since its inception in 2009, North Texas Giving Day has generated $788 million in support of thousands of charities across the region.

“North Texas Giving Day is a celebration of what makes North Texas so special, people coming together to support the causes and nonprofits that make our communities stronger,” Communities Foundation of Texas President and CEO Wayne White said in a statement. “North Texans once again showed the extraordinary power of collective generosity. We are grateful for each individual, family, and business who gave through North Texas Giving Day this year. Every dollar donated makes a world of a difference in our corner of the world and has a lasting impact on local nonprofits and the communities they serve.”

Nation’s largest regional fundraising event

According to CFT, North Texas Giving Day is the largest regional fundraising event in the nation. City of Dallas officials showed their support by issuing a proclamation recognizing Sept. 17, 2026, as North Texas Giving Day.

Amazon, the event’s presenting sponsor, surprised 15 participating nonprofits with donations for their fundraising campaigns. Ranch Hands Rescue—Bob’s House of Hope, Direction 61:3, Selah Creek, Denton Freedom House, Justin’s Place, Como Lions Heart, Mansfield Mission Center and Camp Sweeney were among the charities surprised with Amazon donations.

“North Texas Giving Day is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when communities come together,” Vickie Yakunin, Amazon’s head of community affairs in Texas, said in a statement. Amazon has been a North Texas Giving Day sponsor for six years.

“Our support doesn’t stop at our presenting sponsorship,” Yakunin said. “Each year, it brings us great joy to surprise nonprofits across North Texas with donations toward their Giving Day goals and to champion the work they do in our communities.”

‘No deadline on generosity’

Communities Foundation of Texas kicked off “Giving Season” on Aug. 27, in preparation for the big day.

A sampling of local charities that highlighted North Texas Giving Day on their social media accounts shows the diversity of organizations receiving donations. They included Dallas’ Mission Oak Cliff, which offers a food pantry, clothing assistance, ESL classes and other support for people in Dallas County experiencing homelessness; Plano’s National Ballet of Texas; The Net FW, which aims to disrupt sex trafficking and support survivors in the Fort Worth area; Friends of Coppell Nature Park; and The Pawerful Rescue, a Royse City-based dog rescue organization.

The fundraising push didn’t stop on Sept. 17. CFT accepts donations year-round at NorthTexasGivingDay.org. Last year, through Sept. 30, 2025, North Texas Giving Day generated $78 million from more than 100,000 donors.

“For those who didn’t yet make a donation through North Texas Giving Day, there’s still time, as there’s no deadline on generosity,” White said. “NorthTexasGivingDay.org remains open for giving and every dollar donated supports local organizations.”
