McKinney-based Cardio Voyage Innovations won a patent for a method designed to replace both a patient’s aortic and mitral heart valves at the same time — through a catheter, without open-heart surgery.
The system threads a guide catheter into the heart and advances a support wire across both valves. A two-segment transcutaneous dual valve replacement (TDVR) device then travels over the wire and expands to anchor in each valve simultaneously. The patent was filed in August 2021 and took nearly five years to issue. Addison-based Wael Abo-Auda is the sole listed inventor.
Beyond Cardio Voyage Innovations, other organizations with notable patents granted this week include:
The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board, with a digital-twin-based system (No. 12663768-B2) for reducing peak power consumption in the terminal by analyzing passenger traffic flow and recommending less-congested routing alternatives. Inventor Robert Horton is based in Lewisville.

For example, data relating to one or more parameter of the drilling system may be corrected/filtered using one or more technique. The corrected data can be used to calculate flowrate difference (DeltaFR), and possible fluid losses or gains in the system can be detected by calculating a virtual trip tank (VTT) using DeltaFR. In some embodiments, the technique can compensate for drillstring movement. In some embodiments, an adaptive moving average may be applied to the data to reduce noise. In some embodiments, bilateral filtering may be applied to the data, for example to address issues arising from movement of a choke in the drilling system. In some embodiments, updated baselines may be applied to remove any offset. Systems related to such methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improving access to and control of secure content. To prevent undesired data sharing/access (e.g., prohibited downloads, 4th, 5th-party sharing), access rules can be assigned to documents upon creation. These access rules specify the operations that can be performed to a document, who can perform those operations, and when those documents can be accessed to perform the operations. For each document, a separate container instance may be generated which can store the document comprising the private data. Each authorized user may be provided with their own container instance. Unique cryptographic keys may be generated for each container instance to allow those authorized users to securely connect to their respective container instances. This additional layer of protection (i.e., access rules linked to documents and unique keys for each document/client) allows for granular monitoring of the private data to prevent prohibited access attempts.

Risk values are used to provide a weighting value to assignments, separating relatively higher risk assignments from relatively lower risk assignments. The system thereafter calculates a risk score for one or more of the entities using the information in the assignment matrix, the probability matrix, and the risk values. The system can flag or identity one or more entities whose risk scores do not meet various criteria.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to a host unit for a distributed antenna system. The host unit includes a first radio access network (RAN) interface module to communicate with a RAN node. The host unit also includes a distribution module configured to distribute transport signals between one or more downstream RJ45 connectors and the first RAN interface module. One or more non-permanent connectors are included to couple the distribution module to a second RAN interface module and one or more upstream RJ45 jacks. The one or more upstream RJ45 jacks are configured to pass Ethernet signals therethrough. The distribution module is configured to couple a downlink portion of the first transport signals and either a downlink portion of the second transport signals or a downlink Ethernet signal from one of the upstream RJ45 jacks to a first twisted pair cable connected to one of one or more downstream RJ45 jacks.
